Il tono dei testi è in quest'album meno materialista che nel precedente Construtiom Time Again, e ne è la prova il singolo People Are People, che denuncia i pregiudizi e il razzismo. Some Great Reward è in definitiva un album sicuramente più romantico e introspettivo rispetto ai tre precedentemente pubblicati dalla band.
