Ian Carr è stato all'avanguardia della scena jazz britannica per quasi quattro decenni. Auto-formazione come musicista, Carr ha svolto un ruolo importante nello sviluppo del jazz-rock fusion, giocando con John McLaughlin nei primi anni '60, formando uno dei primi gruppi inglesi elettronici jazz-rock fusion, Nucleo, nel 1969 e giocare con i la band internazionale del Regno Jazz Rock Ensemble, dal 1975. nel 1982.
